Not-for-profit administrative duties encompass a wide range of tasks aimed at supporting the organization’s operations, ensuring smooth communication, and maintaining efficient systems. Duties include managing correspondence, scheduling meetings, and maintaining records, as well as more specialized tasks according to the needs of the organization. This position in SEBRC reports directly to the Secretary of the Board of Directors.
Working with the IT Committee, oversees all aspects of public relations, communications, and external outreach for the Southeastern Buddhist Retreat Center project. This committee ensures that SEBRC’s development is effectively communicated to the public, stakeholders, donors, and the wider community. Members are responsible for shaping the narrative around the retreat center, promoting our mission, and engaging key audiences through various communication channels.
Responsible for developing and implementing strategies to secure the financial resources necessary to support The Southeastern Buddhist Retreat Center’s mission and programs. Key responsibilities include: planning, donor cultivation and stewardship, special events, grant writing and reporting, committee operations.
Ensures compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) established by the US Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) for IRS registered not-for-profit groups, the Finance Committee conducts and/or oversees: Quarterly Financial Reporting P&L, Balance Sheets, Budget vs Actual reports; accounting, bookkeeping, audits, budgets, tax returns, banking.
Identifies/develops programs and services to help retreatants learning and healing. Tasks include identify specific needs; develop curriculum based on needs; recruits/trains presenters; identify waivers, contracts, fees if required; negotiates costs of facilities, fees; establishes locations and determines costs offacilities for budgetary purposes; sets dates and works with Communications and IT to market programs and secure participation; evaluates programs/services for attendance, effectiveness and retreatant expectations.
Identifies potential properties for lease-option to buy and/or purchase for the Southeastern Buddhist Retreat Center and includes such tasks as: develop a list of specific criteria for the property to be obtained; identify candidate properties; determine financing requirements within the existing purview of SEBRC’s financial status.
Prepares and distributes BOD meeting agendas, records minutes of meetings, monitors bylaws, issues correspondence, manages document retention and SEBRC databases and assures remote attendance of BOD meetings is available through appropriate online access.
Working with other SEBRC Committees and Task Forces is responsible for recruiting, training, retaining, supporting and recognizing volunteers, ensuring they are well-supported and effectively utilized to achieve organizational goals.
Guides the organization’s technology use, ensuring it aligns with the mission and goals of the SEBRC. Supports effective, secure and responsible use of technology; advises the BOD on IT matters; strategic planning; infrastructure and security; software and applications; support and training; budget and resources; risk management; policy; vendor management; communications.
